CELEBRATE MOTHER’S DAY ON MAUI

Hawaiʻi is all about Ohana (family), and few holidays mean more to this culture than Mother’s Day. All the traditional appreciation that most people do for mom, like flowers and cards and brunch, still happen here but with a flare towards the culture of Hawaiian family life. Of course, it’s easy to pull off a bouquet of cut flowers; they’re everywhere! Florists, flower farms, and of course the road to Hana roadside stands are loaded to the gills with fresh tropical flowers for Mother’s Day.

The road to Hana has many wonderful flower and fruit stands to choose from.

Also, many people, especially the Keiki (children) will be stringing up lei for mom, and grandma, and auntie with all the Plumeria trees in full bloom there is plenty for everyone in the ohana! When Sunday morning comes, it’s time to load everyone up for breakfast/brunch at one of many Maui brunches happening around the island after which many local families head out to what is usually mom’s favorite place to go… the beach!

Most people who live in Maui work hard and any holiday, especially Mother’s Day, is a major beach day. What mom wouldn’t want to play in the ocean with their kids and family on Mother’s Day? Not many on Maui…

Hawaiʻi’s flower lei is an international symbol of love and respect and is already in everyone’s thoughts on Mother’s Day because of the many Lei Day celebrations on May 1st from the week before, so there are plenty flowers and lei around to share with family and friends.

The locals know that the best fruit and flower stands are out along the road to Hana so take Mom on this amazing scenic drive before Sunday or better yet book her a Hana tour. Mom doesn’t need the stress of this winding road so let the pros take care of her. Either way, this is a Maui must do, and the fruits and flowers of Hana are incredible!
